What do we mean by "hydroponic food?" In short, any crop that can be grown hydroponically — that is without soil for all or most of its cultivation period. Hydroponic produce most often comes in the form of leafy vegetables and herbs, but various fruits and other types of veggies also thrive in a hydroponic growing system. At Mo's, our first focus will be greens and herbs and tomatoes and peppers.
What is a "hydroponic growing system?" Instead of soil, plant roots are immersed in nutrient-rich water for rapid and efficient growth. Conditions such as humidity, temperature, light, air flow, and carbon dioxide-oxygen balance are carefully regulated in an indoor environment. Pests, molds, and weather are not factors, so there are no chemicals and less waste. Therefore, hydroponic food is food you can feel good about eating any day of the week, any time of the year.
